The Morgan Auto Group started out like all great things start – with vision and determination. Larry C. Morgan, founder of the Morgan Auto Group, always had an interest in automotive retail. In 1991, he purchased a 35-store retail tire business based in Clearwater and transformed it into the 600-store Tires Plus. Inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame for his achievements, this was only the beginning for Morgan.
He left retail tires to pursue something larger in 2005. Morgan, along with his son Brett, purchased Toyota of Tampa Bay (then Precision Toyota) and began the initial ascent to what would eventually grow into a 37-location automotive empire. In 2008, Morgan was recognized by Toyota and Time Magazine for success in sales, customer service and charitable work for the community. In 2009, Tampa Bay CEO Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Most Influential Business Leaders in Tampa Bay.
The group has since only continued to grow, purchasing multiple locations in Florida and a few out of state. Automotive News Magazine ranked the group at No. 24 on the top 150 U.S. dealership groups in 2019 and ranked them No. 20 on the Top 100 U.S. Used Retailers list.
